MOOD ALTERATIONS

Mood changes are frequent during menopause and they can appear in the form of energy loss, tiredness, fatigue, lack of concentration, anxiety, irritability, and aggressiveness.

It is well know that estrogens do play an important function in the Central Nervous System and are responsible for the feeling of psychological wellbeing.
It is a moment in women's lives during which it is common to experience slight emotional instabilities due to the loss of reproductive capabilities. Many women feel that after loosing their maternity function, they are no longer valued within their social environment.

Furthermore, this stage of life tends to coincide with the teenage hood of their children and their crises, and many women find it challenging to assimilate the reality of individual and independent children.

It is also a moment in life when, frequently, children tend to abandon their homes, thereby producing the empty nest syndrome. If the reason of one’s existence has been placed on one's children, their departure, even in happy situations, can become a period full of hostility, disputes, and feelings of loneliness.
