CARDIOVASCULAR CARE

The state of the cardiovascular system is one of the most important factors in women’s health and life expectancy in the postmenopausal period.

Estrogens act as protectors of possible cardiovascular diseases, maintaining the vascular flux, performing a vasodilating action and controlling the levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides, for example.
One must not forget that risk factors associated to lifestyle habits such as smoking, a sedentary life, obesity, or stress actually do play the most important role in cardiovascular complications.

Therefore, it is important that, once estrogens levels decrease, women should undertake regular medical checkups to monitor their cardiovascular system and if necessary should receive an adequate treatment for their particular case, while simultaneously maintaining a healthy lifestyle and following a proper diet.
