VISION AND OBJECTIVES

The Spanish Association for the Study of Menopause (AEEM) is a non-profit organization of professionals dedicated to the Study of Climaterium. Today, it is composed of around 1.000 members of different specializations such as gynecology, rheumatology, endocrinology, primary attention, nursing, etc. and was born from the interest of a series of medical doctors in the study of menopause.

Besides being part of the Spanish Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (SEGO), the AEEM works with other medical societies in a multidisciplinary manner, to be able to understand the consequences of menopause from different points of view, making the AEEM a scientific society for any person interested in the study of menopause.

Afterwards, Prof. José Navarro built the foundations of what later on would be the AEEM. Prof. Rafael Comino constructed a solid building by producing several publications and by organizing several Consensus Conferences.

Some of our objectives are:

  • To foster, develop, and promote the study of Climaterium.

  • To foster thorough medical training through Continuous Training Programs.

  • To create medical protocols to serve as guidelines for other medical specialists

  • To inform women of their health and the preventive actions that can be taken to reach a healthy maturity

  • To divulge, inform, and make society aware of this stage in the life of women and, secondarily, of men

With these objectives at the core of its endeavors, the Association develops
activities for medical practitioners interested in menopause through:

  • The organization of congresses, conventions, meetings, and work groups whose goal is the study of menopause and all its aspects.

  • The creation of information vehicles that facilitate scientific and experimental exchanges among members.

  • The establishment of agreements with other societies that pursue the same goals as the AEEM
